Natalie Merchant: Natalie Merchant first emerged as the lead singer of the innovative alt-rock group, 10,000 Maniacs, before going solo in 1993. She has released several successful solo albums and her voice remains a mainstay on the Adult Contemporary dial. The New York native joined 10,000 Maniacs in 1981 while still a college student. The group achieved multi-Platinum success and Merchant released seven albums with the group before emerging with her solo debut in 1995. The album, Tigerlily, was a huge critical and commercial success for Merchant and went on to sell over five million albums. It featured the hit singles, "Carnival", "Wonder", and "Jealousy" and remains her biggest album to-date. Natalie Merchant tour dates took her on a whirlwind global concert outing. Merchant returned three years later in 1998 with Ophelia which featured the upbeat hit "Kind and Generous".
